Should college athletes be paid?

In my opinion, college athletes should definitely be paid. This would encourage more and more young talents to emerge within colleges and encourage them to upskill their talent. In India, out of 1.5 billion, we cannot produce 11 good players to qualify for FIFA. Why? Lack of financial support is one of the main reasons why players do not feel motivated to pursue football as a career.

Take a student who earns an academic scholarship; they don't get a paycheck on top of it. College athletes already get free tuition, housing, and meals, which is a ton. I just feel like handing them cash on top of that goes too far.
