The other side makes it sound like college sports are just a job, but I think the whole point is these are students first. Paying them turns a scholarship into a payroll, and that feels wrong to me. I know that's not a great argument, but it's my gut.

My opponent makes a fair point, and I am not really sure how to argue back. I still feel like paying players would change college sports into something else, but maybe that is just me being stubborn. I cannot really explain why.

Maybe the real question isn't who works hardest, but what college is actually for. My opponent's point about hard work is fair, and I can't really argue with it. I just think if everything hard becomes a paid job, school stops being school.
