a choir soprano isn't hauling in multi billion dollar TV contracts while the director is raking in a ten million dollar salary in the public eye. the deal is already being made... the schools, the networks, the coaches they are just the only ones cashing the checks. saying that "paying the people who actually make the money" will "destroy the community" is just a way of hiding behind tradition to exploit people. saying they'll go away is not an either/or it's not like those schools don't have the resources to build the finest, most expensive practice and game venues, or to pay state-of-the-art execs and ADs a lot of money. they have the money, it's just being diverted away from the players. You can't grow a huge commercial enterprise on someone else's back, and then complain "harmony and amateurism" when they start asking for their cut.
