Picture two parents sitting in a clinic, choosing their baby like they're ordering a pizza. First it's a health fix, then it's hair color, then IQ scores. We're not ready to play God with generations that can't say no. That's why I'm against it.

That only applies to more trivial things, like hair colour, and iQ scores, but when it comes to health fixing, no one would refuse correcting health issues. As for playing God, that only applies if exists, and if He does exist, i would argue that he gave us the knowledge to be able to do these things in the same way He gave us the ability to bring more human beings into the world. therefore the issue is not whether its unethical or not, but on whether it is beneficial or harmful. Is it harmful? you can agree that its not. Is it useful, fuck yes to save many babies from future harmful mutations.

Even if the goal is curing a disease, that door swings both ways. Once we start picking embryos apart, we're deciding which lives are worth living and which aren't. That's a power no parent or scientist should hold over a person who never got a say.

you just made no sense. we are not picking apart, we are using genetic modification to imprive life, not digress. we are keeping up with advancements in technology. we cannot decide for those who are born already based on technological constaints, but parents can decide for the unborn in a direction that is advantages, and generally speaking, parents want nothing but the best for their children, making them perfect decision makers for those who still do not have the capacity to decide for themselves. it is not power, but responsibilty. More is required from those who know more.

You say no one would refuse correcting health issues, but who gets to decide what counts as one? A parent's idea of "fixing" could mean anything, and once we start designing embryos, we're saying some lives are mistakes before they even begin. That's a road we can't walk back from.
