Just like anorexia, bulimia, satanism and self harm, the idea of being transgender is something created by society out of social contagion. Trans people are just people who think they are another sex, but that doesnt make them that sex. And i dont think they should be able to cross sex based boundaries based on that belief. Not only because it is affirming a non-truth, but also because of the dangers that can cause in situations like a man going into a female changing room and claiming to be trans.

Sure, people are influenced by what they see around them, and labels spread online. But calling being transgender a social contagion feels too simple to me, like it turns identity into a trend. I cannot really argue it well, but it just seems more personal than catchy.

But if being trans spreads online, does that make it just a contagion? My opponent makes a fair point about labels and safety, and I am not sure how to argue back. It still feels more personal than a trend, though I cannot prove that.
