Should children under 16 be banned from social media?

I do fever, the motion that social media should be banned for children’s 16 years and town reason being because it has given us several examples, including us that somehow social media hampers the mental growth of a child disturbs, the physical health of a child and which which should be not written because again, it’s the right of the student. It’s the right of the teen to live his teenage life at utmost best way, and social media actually hampers and tarnishes it.

Look, I get the concern—I really do. Social media can be a minefield for kids, and nobody wants to see bullying or harmful content. But a blanket ban for under-16s feels like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut. A lot of teens use these platforms to connect with friends, explore hobbies, or find support they can't get offline. Banning them outright ignores the good stuff. Plus, it pushes kids to find unmonitored spaces, which is way riskier. Why not focus on better digital literacy education and stronger parental controls instead? That way, we're teaching them to navigate the world safely, not just locking the door and hoping they don't climb out the window.
