Look, I get why people hesitate to call esports a sport. But that hesitation is based on a definition that's way too narrow. We've already accepted that chess and poker are sports, and those involve zero physical exertion.
The core of sport is competition governed by rules, requiring skill and practice. Esports has that in spades. Pro gamers train 10+ hours a day, they have coaches, teams, strategies, and they compete in sold-out arenas. The physical demands are real too — hand-eye coordination, reaction time, mental stamina under pressure. That's athletic, even if it doesn't look like football.
We're moving into a century where digital competition is only going to grow. Denying esports the "sport" label is like refusing to call online chess "chess." It's the same thing, just a different arena.
