I get why people want a special day for rest and worship, that seems nice. But I just don't see why it has to be Saturday specifically for everyone. It feels more like a tradition than something that still applies today.

This comes down to whether one old command is meant to bind everyone now, not just the people it was first given to. That Exodus verse is a fair point, I admit, and I am not sure how to argue against it. I still feel Saturday being required for all seems like a stretch.

In that very passage, the sabbath was required for strangers aswell as jews. Isaiah 58 also explicitly says that strangers will participate on the Sabbath aswell.
The Sabbath also existed before the nation of Isreal.

Imagine a commuter who rests Sunday instead, is God really upset? I admit the Exodus point is fair, and I am not sure how to argue it. It still feels like Saturday is a tradition, not something required for everyone.
