Whenever I hear that robotic effect on every song, it feels like the voice is being covered up rather than shaped. Maybe some use it creatively, but a lot of the time it just hides whether someone can actually sing. That is my gut feeling, anyway.
Yes I would say that autotune is an art form , not a cop out because the very fact that such a technology was developed and used by many renouned singers is its topmost reason

Doesn't it still feel like a shortcut when the effect does the heavy lifting? My opponent makes a fair point that plenty of famous singers use it. I just can't shake the feeling it often covers weak singing, and I'm not sure how to argue that better.

So my dear opponent let me tell you that if that's the case than its just used as a tool for enhancing their voice rather than changing and hidind it
For instance even in the film industries the actors have their stunt doubles . That doesn't mean that they are not good at their job and that it's faking rather it means that they are just enhancing their performance. So its not a short cut it's just an add on.
And even if the famous singers use it , you can't say that they don't have a good voice because if they sing in their concerts it's always without autotune

Imagine someone at a karaoke bar leaning on the autotune button all night; people clap but nobody knows if they can actually hold a note. My opponent says it's just an add-on, fair, but that still feels like covering up to me, and I'm not sure how to argue it better.
So what each coin has 2 sides but even that sounds good right and anybody has the right to use or not to use autotune so let me tell you where singers like Taylor Swift, Billie eilish use it you can't argue that it's wrong

To me the real question is whether the voice still carries the song without the effect, and a lot of times it feels like it can't. My opponent's point about famous singers is fair, I guess, but I still just hear a machine smoothing over the hard parts.
Then for your kind information if your concern is whether the song is sung with autotune or not then just hear the concert of any famous singer and you will come to know that they don't always use autotune it's just their choice

Fair enough, my opponent says concerts prove they can sing without it, and maybe that's true. But I still feel like if you need the effect on the record, it's covering something up. I don't know how to argue it better than that.
well let me tell you that it's not covering the true Voice up If in case they use altitude enhance the voice because there are many people who even after using alter tune their voice is not nice and if you look at the concerts of these famous singers you will know that during the concert the use no what are you doing this thing life mostly so there vocals are very similar to the tune to the voice which comes after putting on the auto tune so I don't think so that you can are you on this fact
