The practical consequence is this: once you allow editing for disease, that same technique is available for enhancement, and there's no clear line to stop it. Height, intelligence, appearance, all become market goods, and only the wealthy get access at first. That's not a hypothetical slippery slope, it's how every reproductive technology has been adopted. The other side's disease case is genuinely strong, and I'll grant it. But embryo screening already handles most of it without editing anyone's inherited code. The cost of the one exception is a permanent, unregulated market in designing children.
