Take a college basketball player who already gets a free ride and tutoring. Paying them extra turns game day into just another job, and then it stops feeling like amateur sports. I guess I just don't see why that's the right fix.

I guess the other side would say these athletes bring in tons of money, and honestly that's a fair point I can't really argue with. But paying players just makes college sports feel like minor league pro ball, and that's the part that bugs me.

To me the real issue is what college sports are supposed to be, not a paycheck. My opponent makes a fair case that players generate money, and I'm not sure how to answer that, but paying them still feels like turning college into pro ball, and that just doesn't sit right with me.
