Comparing ICE to Nazis is primarily an emotional appeal, not a factual claim. Nazis operated a genocidal state apparatus centered on racial extermination, mass murder, and totalitarian control. ICE, regardless of criticism, enforces immigration law within a constitutional framework, subject to courts, media scrutiny, and democratic oversight. Using Nazi analogies collapses vastly different historical contexts into a single moral shock tactic. That may mobilize outrage, but it does not meet the standard of factual comparison grounded in intent, scale, or ideology.

Analogies must be precise to be factual. Nazi tactics involved extrajudicial killings, secret police, and race-based extermination policies. ICE policies, however flawed, are debated publicly, challenged in courts, and altered through elections. Labeling enforcement agencies as “Nazi-like” bypasses evidence and replaces it with rhetorical escalation. This weakens legitimate criticism by turning policy debate into moral absolutism.
