Round 1
felons should keep a right to vote. while they are convicted for the felony, they still remain a citizen of the country and considering they are already being punished, they still deserve to have a say in the elections and choose their representatives

The other side thinks voting is just a right, but it's really a responsibility. If someone breaks the law in a serious way, they've shown bad judgment about how society should work. I feel like they should earn that trust back first.

while that is true, a vote of a convicted criminal might or might not create a heavy effect on the actual elected represenative. in the case of wrong judgements which might be passed by a bias judge, due to corruption or any such political loophole, the falsely accused deserves a right to choose better for his country to prevent more of such negative or wrong judgements which might cuase more harm to the future of their respective country

You make a fair point that they're still citizens and already punished. I guess I just feel voting is about having a stake in society, and committing a serious crime means you stepped outside that for a while. Maybe it's just my gut, but I'd want them to prove they've changed first.

while they have already been punished or have experineced the trials and the cross examinations, most of the suspects experience alot of hassle and get actual glimpses of how a court works and how the politics of their country functions. as they might spend some time in jail, they might get more aware of the underlying politics of the country and if possible they may be available to raise awareness on immoral politicians and may help to empower the country by choosing someone actually worthwhile

That false conviction point is really strong, and I honestly don't know how to argue against it. If someone was wrongly punished, of course they should vote. But for people who really did commit serious crimes, I still feel they lost that right until they show they've reformed. Just my gut, really.
