The other side is right that algorithmic control and missing benefits are real problems. But the gym analogy doesn't quite fit, because most gig work has no cancellation fee, no contract, and no exit cost at all. Someone doing deliveries part-time can simply stop logging on. A trap needs an exit that costs more than the entrance, and for most gig workers the exit is just closing the app. Deactivation is a platform risk, not proof the worker is trapped. Fix the protections, sure, but don't call an imperfect, optional option a cage.
