My opponent states that " A celebrity running a city isn't. Same word, different stakes." This is correct to some extent, since the ability to run a city is not based on how many movies they have starred in, which is correct but they do not really correlate with each other, meaning that the number of movies that they have played in or starred in should not affect the competency of if they belong or, as the definition states, "to be in the right or suitable place" and my opponent argues that the question is if fame is enough or counts as qualification but it does not state that anywhere and as i have stated before the definition of belong is politics a place where celebrities are suitable in. Which means it does not say if it is a qualification it just asks that if they have the right to be in politics and if it is a right place for them and as i have stated before the status of fame a person carries is not relevant to if they belong in politics or not in the sense that they should be allowed either way. Furthermore the definition of celebrity is "a person who is widely recognized, commands public attention." Which alligns with the president so would you also argue that if someone was president before would they not be able to run again since they are technically a celebrity also nowhere in the motion does it say that it needs to be a celebrity that is in the entertainment business nevertheless they should be able to take part in politics since everyone that wishes to be in politics belongs in politics. Thank you.
