Similarly, stories like God commanding the Israelites to destroy entire nations in Deuteronomy 20 are seen by some scholars as reflecting ethnic favouritism. These examples don’t prove God is sexist or racist, but they show how human interpretations of scripture can create the appearance of inequality.

I think God is supposed to be beyond our human ideas of race or gender, so calling God racist feels like mixing up what people do with what God is. That said, I am not totally sure how to defend this against specific stories.

i get your point but saying god is beyond race and gender dosent really answer why scripture shows commands that look biased. if those stories come from god, its fair to question why they reflect human inequality

Surprisingly, the earliest biblical texts describe God as spirit, without a body or gender. You make a fair point that those verses have been used badly, but I still think that says more about people twisting religion than about God. I just can't shake that gut feeling.

if god is really beyond gender and race then its strange that the earliest scriptures show him acting in way that mirror human bias. Say "people twisted it" dosent explain why the texts themselves contain commands that look unequal-thats not a gut feeling THATS EVIDENCE
