I'm against the rosy version of near future cities because they're systems, not gadgets. Connect transit, power, housing, and data, and you get speed plus brittleness: one algorithmic glitch or outage cascades across everything. Efficiency also creates feedback loops that push rents up near improved lines and push poorer residents out. And whoever owns the sensors owns the rules. So even if the tech works, the city may become more unequal, more surveilled, and less resilient. That's why I can't back the FOR case.

And public data ownership erodes when budgets tighten or vendors lobby. So the FOR case assumes the fixes hold. In interconnected cities, they often don't. That's why I'm still against.
