Take a show like Lost. Years after it ended, people still debate that ending online, spoilers everywhere. The fear of spoilers just shifts when we talk, it doesn't stop us. I guess I don't think it's killing discussion at all.
Yes, spoilers do kill TV discussion because the feeling of not knowing the plot until when it is revealed is the whole point of TV and spoilers, true to their name, spoil it.
Isn't it okay if talks just happen later? The other side is right that surprises matter, and honestly I can't argue that away. I still feel people talk plenty after, so it isn't killing anything.
I do not know about this show but this might be an exception. It's not just about discussion it's also about getting a spoiler before you even watch the movie. That is just not good.
My opponent has a fair point about spoilers landing before someone even watches. I get that. But waiting a bit to talk doesn't mean discussion is killed; people just gather later and still go deep. I can't really argue the surprise part, that's true.
Yes, but if we get them after we watch, it isn't technically a spoiler, so that is good, but spoilers are reveals that spoil the movie for someone who hasn't watched it.
