For me, athletes should be a role model for every student that is studying in that campus. Because today, the present, today, 2026, the new curriculum is very hard, especially for the student-athletes. Because they have to sacrifice half of their studies, half of their lives, half of their sleep, their tiredness, and all. Because they should balance the studies and their sports. They have to pass all the activities, the assignments, the exams. Sometimes even though they have sleepless nights, tired days, body aches, so let us normalize on someone who is idolizing the student athletes nowadays.

That’s not a moral judgment, that’s just the public record. So why are we handing these people the job of shaping young minds? Athletes are selected for their physical ability, not their ethics or decision-making. There's zero peer-reviewed evidence that athletic success correlates with moral character. If anything, the culture of competitive pressure and privilege often breeds entitlement. Let’s stop pretending that being fast or strong makes someone a good person. A role model should be someone who demonstrates consistent, evidence-based judgment. Athletes like LeBron might do good things, but that’s anecdote, not a reason to institutionalize them as role models. We should be telling kids to admire teachers, doctors, and engineers—people actually trained to guide others. As for your side, you’ll say athletes inspire. Sure, they inspire us to watch sports. That’s not the same as modeling how to live.

A role model isn't just about how good they are, how perfect they are, how good they are when it comes to public life. For me, being a role model is changing, accepting who you are, accepting challenges in lives, and still going even though you're having a tough moment, low life, hard decisions, tiring days, And still not giving up, still doing their best for their future is a kind of role model that we should idolize more. We should look up more. Not all student athletes are murderers, prisoners, killing someone, doing bad stuff. Why do we only look at their bad sides? I mean, yes, we cannot avoid that fact that they're doing that, but not all. We can change them. They're doing that because they have a reason. No villain is born. All villains are made. There's a reason, there's a cause behind their doings. So instead of looking at their bad image, let us look more into the possibilities that they will change or contribute on our future. Let's be more open-minded. Let's be more societal. Girl, it's 2026, bro.

It leads nowhere for most of them. And while I admire a student-athlete grinding through homework and practice, that's not unique. Here is my point. My point is the student athletes being a role model to every young mind is okay. It's fine because they are inspiring the kids to not give up. Even though they have tired days, tired nights, they are still not giving up. We're always talking about moral judgments, their efforts. Let us not be far from the idea that student-athletes have to sacrifice half of their life, half their energy, half their studies, time. They have time management. So being a student athlete isn't just about student athletes, sports, physical practices, training They are more about being a person a human that will be tired also Their humans will be tired and they are more what do you call it more exhausted than a normal student is And then most of the student athletes graduated with high grades, high ranks. So what's wrong with student athletes being a role model to young minds? Like, girl, what's the problem of being a student athlete? It's more into sacrificing. I'm saying this because I know what a student athlete feels like. They will feel pressured and they will feel insecure. They will think about what will happen when I will miss this one. Giving names to their school that they are representing. So what's wrong with that?

Picture a twelve-year-old watching his favorite quarterback get flagged, then slam his helmet and scream at the referee. That's the behavior being modeled, week after week. You're right that resilience and not giving up are admirable traits, and I'll give you that student-athletes show real dedication. But that doesn't make them role models, any more than working hard at a fast-food job makes you a moral guide.
The "not all athletes are bad" point misses the mark. It only takes a handful of high-profile arrests or ugly outbursts to poison the well for the thousands of kids copying their moves and their attitudes. And "they can change" is a beautiful idea, but a role model isn't a rehabilitation project. We pick people to look up to because they already show sound judgment, not because we hope they'll get better with time.
Athletes deserve respect for their craft. But let's keep them off the pedestal until they actually earn it with consistent, evidence-based character.
