Even with safeguards, you're making permanent decisions for people who get no say, based on knowledge we simply don't have yet. That's why I think we should stop before we can't turn back.

Of course we all want to stop kids from suffering; that's the most human instinct there is. But editing an embryo doesn't just treat one child — it changes every cell in that person's body and gets handed down to their kids, and their kids after that.
