Look, I get the appeal of streaming. It's convenient, cheap, and gives us access to millions of songs. But calling the payouts "fair" just doesn't hold up when you look at the numbers. Most artists are making fractions of a cent per stream. A song needs hundreds of thousands of plays just to earn minimum wage.
The problem is the business model itself. The money doesn't go to the people actually making the music. It flows to labels, distributors, and the platforms themselves. The average independent artist is left fighting for scraps while a few big names clean up.
Streaming services have the leverage, and they use it. They set the rates, and artists have no real choice but to accept them if they want to be heard. That's not a fair market. That's a system rigged toward the top.

This is the industry people need to make decisions before they going in, just like chess, movie actor, only the very top make big buck, there is nothing really caused by the platform, platform only give people a chance to shine, if your song is good, you will become popular, and make huge amount money, but if you song is ordinary, the fact is, you won't get much， its not really about fair, its about free market, people just won't pay for something not worth for it. On the contrary if you are good, you will be famous, people will share ur work online and get popular very quickly
If artisit dont get enough, its their choice to get into a harsh market without talent, i am sorry, if you think stay home and sing is easy job without talent, you are wronged

You say you can't read the motion, but the reality is staring us in the face. I get that streaming seems like a good deal for listeners, and it is. But fair to artists? Not even close.
Spotify pays around $0.003 to $0.005 per stream. So an artist needs about 250 streams to make a single dollar. A song on a popular playlist might get 100,000 plays, which sounds great until you realize that's only $300 to $500 before the label takes their cut. For most independent musicians, that's not a living wage. That's pocket change.
And here's the thing: the system is designed this way. The platforms benefit from having millions of songs, so they keep payouts low. Labels hoard the big deals. Artists, especially smaller ones, are left accepting whatever crumbs fall their way. That's not a fair market. That's a rigged game.

I think you completely missed my point. What I already said was this industry is known already. So if you are not talented and you just don't entry at all, that's my point. So you're talking about that money is very small for the small artists. Isn't that situation is the same across many industries like chess and then like chess and YouTuber, but it's free market. People can get to choose what they want to do, right? So if you are not talented and you decide to enter this like very cruel market, then it's your choice. It's not like people don't know this situation. You have to be so good to earn the big buck money. If you're not so good, not talented, and then you're expecting a living, make a living by making the music, then the reality will just teach you a lesson, right? And also, my other point is the AI is taking over. So the AI will make a lot of sounds. And then even better than human beings. So it's only a matter of time that no one making good money anymore from the AI. So what is the point that you want to make this market fair? So if the artist is so good and making very good sounds and then they can sign up with different platform and making big money you just have to be very good And then if you not very good just quit Just do something else The market is always fair by free So if you are a small musician and people don appreciate your work there just no money Everything is the same So you just have to improve yourself and then doing some very good thing. And the platform will pay you a lot and they will give you money for you to stay with them. So rather to complain it's not fair or the game is a rigid game, you improve yourself. And if you can't, and if you're just a small musician, then you are a loser. And it doesn't matter what you do, you lose. Or if music is not what you're good at, and you just accept the reality and do something else. Why are you crying and complaining in the market? There are people who can be successful in this industry. You just have to be one of them. You keep saying it's a free market, but that assumes everyone has the same leverage. They don't. The platforms and labels control the gate. A free market only works when both sides can actually walk away. Artists can't. They need exposure to build a career, and streaming is the only way to get it now. That's not choice. That's coercion.
And this idea that only the talented succeed? Come on. Plenty of mediocre songs go viral. Plenty of brilliant artists stay broke. Success on streaming has more to do with playlist placement and label money than pure talent. You can write the best song in the world, but if you're not on a major label's payroll, good luck getting heard.
The system isn't rewarding quality. It's rewarding whoever can game the algorithm or buy their way in. That's not fair. That's just another rigged game.
