I don't think that an outright ban on all AI music is really something enforceable in a practical sense. And I think that it would just be a lot easier for streaming platforms to have some filtering heuristics so that users could decide whether or not the music they were listening to could include music that is plausibly AI made. What we need is not more censorship, but simply better heuristics for detecting when music is AI created and some toggle for turning off music that is plausibly AI generated. Rather than risking accidentally banning human-made music that happens to trigger the AI detection software.

Well, usually the younger generation is more sensitive to whether or not the music they're listening to is made by AI. I don't necessarily think an outright ban is something that we should implement because an even less tyrannical enforcement program would be to simply prevent money from flowing to producers that generate or plausibly generate AI music. But I think that even this is a bit extreme. What we could instead do is flag producers whose music is likely to have been AI generated and add some toggles so that users can automatically skip any songs that are likely to have been AI generated.

I don't necessarily know if it's that hard to verify that a song has been made by a human artist. But I think that if we actually do have the detection software for determining if a song is AI created, then the most prudent thing to do would just be to add some toggles and to make it so that music that is plausibly generated by AI is less likely to surface in the algorithm. An outright ban accidentally risks censoring human producers whose music happens to trigger the AI detection software.
