College athletes encentivise people to attend the college, especially if they make it professionally as it would make more people feel a need to go to that school due to a higher likelihood of them making it professional. The supply and demand chart shows us that when want in this case for a school goes up the school can charge extra for its price of entry

I mean, the scholarships and training they get already seem like a pretty big deal. Paying them cash on top of that feels like it would turn college into just another business, and that sort of rubs me the wrong way. I don't know, maybe that's just me.

But you have to understand the gamble these college athletes go through, risking a lesser education as they have to attend practice daily sacrificing their grades for their sport. A full ride scholarship won't matter if the student is dualy focused and can't pass the course due to trying to juggle sports and academia

Take a bench player on a top football team—if the quarterback gets a big paycheck and they don't, that's got to create jealousy and wreck team spirit. I get your supply and demand point, it's a fair one. But paying some athletes and not others just feels off to me.
