College athletes deserve a share of the revenue they generate because they are the primary drivers of a multi-billion-dollar commercial enterprise, yet they historically haven't shared in the direct profits. While universities bring in massive financial streams through lucrative television deals, ticket sales, and merchandise, this wealth is largely redirected toward multi-million-dollar coaching salaries, executive bonuses, and luxury facilities rather than the players whose physical labor and talent attract the audience. Restricting athletes from capturing their true market value creates a stark economic inequity, especially since a star player's performance directly elevates a university’s brand, increases student applications, and boosts alumni donations.
