If trauma alone justified higher pay, where would the line be drawn? My opponent's case rests on emotion, but pay is set by budgets, supply, and demand, not by how difficult a job feels. EMTs do face real trauma, and that deserves support, but it does not automatically mean they are underpaid for it. Firefighters, ER nurses, and social workers also face heavy trauma. If we raised pay purely for exposure to pain, we would have to do it across many professions. The better fix is better mental health care, staffing, and benefits, not mislabeling wages as trauma compensation.
