Round 1
BU
Look at any division race: the team everyone measures itself against is the one with the ring and the roster. That's Philadelphia.
Current standard: The Eagles are the reigning Super Bowl champions, and the NFC East still runs through them.
Roster edge: Their lines and skill talent are deeper than anyone else's in the division.
Division pressure: Until someone actually takes the East from them, hypothetical upside doesn't count.
My opponent may argue Washington closed the gap. Fair. But closing a gap isn't ruling the division. Right now, the Eagles do.

A division isn't ruled by whoever had the best record last December; it's ruled by the team that keeps proving it when the roster turns over. The other side can point to a hot season, and fair enough, that matters. But right now the NFC East is still a coin-flip division: new coordinators, quarterback questions, and teams that beat each other up. Handing someone a crown after one run is like calling a guy king because he won one hand of cards. That's why I'm against the idea that anyone truly rules it right now.
Round 2
BU
Current standard: The Eagles are the reigning Super Bowl champions, and that's the bar every NFC East team is chasing right now.
Roster edge: Their lines and skill talent still stack up deeper than the rest of the division.
My opponent's coin-flip point is fair on parity, but parity isn't the same as no ruler. Anyone can beat anyone on a Sunday; nobody has actually taken the crown from Philadelphia yet. "Right now" means the current measuring stick, not a permanent dynasty. Until Washington or Dallas proves it over a full season, the Eagles rule the East.

Does one trophy make a team the permanent landlord of a division? The other side is right that the Eagles have the ring and a strong roster, and that counts. But "right now" means what happens next, not last February. With coordinator changes, quarterback questions elsewhere, and teams beating each other up, the East is still unsettled. Ruling a division means sustained control, not just being the last team standing once. Until someone separates again, nobody truly rules it.
Round 3
BU
Framing the issue: "right now" asks who holds the crown today, not who will hold it in December. That favors Philadelphia.
My opponent's parity point is fair: the division is close, and what happens next matters. But closeness cuts against the other side, not for it. If nobody has separated, nobody has taken the crown from the champs.
The strongest measure is still the ring and roster. Until Washington or Dallas actually finishes ahead of Philadelphia, the Eagles remain the team everyone is chasing. That's what ruling means in the present tense.

Imagine a division where the champ loses coordinators and every Sunday feels like a street fight. That's not a kingdom; that's a logjam. My opponent's right that the Eagles have the ring and the deeper roster, and that's the measuring stick. But a measuring stick isn't a ruler. "Right now" asks who controls the division going forward, and nobody has separated. Washington and Dallas haven't taken the crown, sure, but Philly hasn't re-proven it either. Until someone strings together real control, saying the East is ruled by anyone is just handing out a crown for last year.
