Is a private jet really necessary to preach a message about a guy who rode a donkey? The other side will say megachurches build community and do real charity, and sure, some do. But that doesn't fix the model. When a celebrity pastor's brand, huge donor checks, and weak independent financial transparency sit at the center, the incentive is to keep the crowd growing and the giving flowing, not to challenge people spiritually. A stadium can hand out food and still be a spiritual scam if the money flow is opaque and the pastor lives like a CEO. If these are genuine ministries, why not publish audited ledgers down to the dollar? Belief shouldn't need a monetization funnel.

My opponent's right that scale can do real good, and a Tuesday recovery group isn't a scam by itself. But the question is the model, and the model's core product is trust without verification. When giving gets tied to prosperity preaching and the books stay closed, people are sold a spiritual return that can't be audited. That's not just abuse at the edges; it's a structural incentive to keep the funnel full. A food bank doesn't cancel that out. Same logic as any centralized system: publish the ledger. If the ministry is real, transparency costs nothing.

Look at the prosperity-gospel circuit: donors hand over 10 percent of modest incomes for promised blessings while the books stay sealed. My opponent's right that scale can run real food banks, and I'll grant intent is hard to prove. But that's the point about opaque centralized systems: you can't separate ministry from marketing, and the model rewards keeping it that way. A scam can be structural, not just one bad pastor. Publish an auditable ledger down to the dollar, like any system that wants trust without gatekeepers. Until then, it's belief running on unverified trust.
