You keep saying “just another tool,” but tools don’t have profit motives. Studios aren’t finishing these works out of artistic respect—they’re chasing nostalgia dollars. A human editor or collaborator at least had conversations with the artist, understood their quirks, their second-guesses. An AI doesn’t know why a scene was left rough or a melody unfinished. It’ll go for the most commercial, crowd-pleasing option every time.
And yeah, you can label it AI-assisted. But once it’s out there, that label fades. People will remember the “completed” version, not the real one. The original gets buried. We lose the artist’s actual voice for a polished fake. That’s not honoring them. That’s just using their name to sell product.
