The problem with recall petitions is they assume voters will stay informed enough to use them wisely, but most folks have to concentrate on their own jobs and families. A few angry people could force endless campaign cycles, so politicians would spend all their time fundraising and defending themselves instead of actually governing. That just makes things worse.

Picture a handful of loud folks starting a recall petition because their senator voted for a highway bill they hated. That senator now spends six months begging for donations instead of writing laws. We’d have chaos and endless elections, not better government.
