I agree. College athletes work hard for their sport and if they are exceptionally well they should recieve a cut of revenue. But, for this to be possible a system must be placed to monitor more deeply who is actually performing well in the field and who isn't to avoid creating financial problems for the said college.

Education isn't free globally, it is dependant on the country they live within and most majors aren't totally free. The economic factor of a country, specifically whether their parents or them themselves work is minimum wage or not has an effect if they can afford education or not. Fans also can't appear in college settings because college athletes don't get broadcasted, there is not a place for it in media. An athletic revenue cut would be a great way to support athletes in college.

The time and effort they put into being athletes is an enough of an indicator and I don't think athlete stipends would change what college sports are negatively. There is just no good reason to not compensate them especially if they are building traction for the college/showing actual potential.
