Look at the medieval warm period, when Vikings farmed Greenland. That happened long before industrial emissions. So clearly, climate has changed naturally before, sometimes dramatically.
Now, I'm not saying humans have zero impact. We clearly do. But "mainly caused" is the key phrase here. The Earth's climate system is incredibly complex, with solar variability, ocean currents like the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation, and volcanic activity all playing major roles. We're still struggling to model these natural forcings accurately.
Take the current warming pause between 1998 and 2013. Many models predicted steady warming, but it didn't happen that way. That suggests natural variability is a bigger factor than we give it credit for. Until we can fully account for these natural drivers, claiming human activity is the main cause feels like overreach.
