AI music, is, at then end of the day, music. If the developer has spent time writing out vocals and instructions for instrumentals, how is that any different from Vocaloid music such as Hatsune Miku? If something is just one-sentence-prompt slop, it's likely not going to be recommended anyway.

The real question is what streaming platforms are for: showcasing music made by people, or becoming endless feeds of machine output. Letting AI songs in just floods those spaces and makes it harder for actual artists to be heard. That's my gut feeling, anyway.

If you think people writing out their own lyrics and vocals, and instructing the AI on how to perform the instruments, is slop, do you believe that vocaloid music is slop that doesn't belong online? It is, essentially, the same thing, Lyrics are fed into the software, and the person sings it. Would anyone deny the right for music made by Hatsune Miku to be on music streaming software>

The practical consequence is streaming catalogs getting swamped with cheap AI tracks, so it gets even harder for real artists to be found. My opponent makes a fair point about curation and Vocaloid, and I honestly don't know how to argue back. It just feels wrong to me.

But anything that is, in fact, "cheap AI tracks," will be buried under the alogorithm, just as sloppy normal music would. If someone has put time and dedication into crafting a beat and lyrics, does it not deserve to do well? What if they are disabled, and cannot sing or play instruments? Would you deny them the right to create?

The practical thing is that if platforms fill up with AI tracks, regular listeners get buried in options and real artists lose the little attention they had. My opponent's Vocaloid comparison is fair and I can't really counter it. It still feels like a different lane to me.
