There is a reason why the dog is man’s best friend.
It is be the dog takes care of the man as much as man takes care of it.

Cats seem easier for someone with a busy schedule. Dogs need walks and constant attention, but a cat can just do its own thing. I guess that makes them more practical companions for a lot of people.

Having a dog is knowing that you have company.
Dogs can feel what their masters feel and respond accordingly
Well trained dogs protect and stay with their masters
You do not feel lonely with a dog
It gives you a sense of purpose and they are easy to care for
Cats are animals that occasionally withdraw and they cannot protect their masters as against dogs
A dog will leave and come back that day but a cat can be gone for days
It goes to say that cats are unreliable in the grand scheme of events

I can see why people love that loyal dog greeting, that’s a fair point. But for everyday life, cats just fit better into busy schedules. They don’t need constant attention, and that independence feels like a plus rather than a downside to me.

A dog can fend for itself but cats are usually very grumpy with lack of care

Isn't it true that a lot of people just want a quiet home after a long day? Qing makes a good point about loyalty, and I can't really argue with that. Still, cats' low-maintenance calm just seems like an easier fit for everyday life.
