Honestly, climate change is such a huge problem that I think we can't afford to rule anything out, including releasing gene-edited organisms. I know it sounds risky, but doing nothing feels worse. I'm not sure how else we'd fix things fast enough.

Releasing genetically modified organisms to combat climate change sounds like an inefficient way to balance out the effects of newer artificial intelligent models through even more artificial intelligent models. Bringing in new biotechnical enhanced machinery to counteract with the results of waste we made through our own inventions does not help the climate in any way; it only delays the effects slowly, and it may not do even that much. Creating these genetically modified organisms stems this false sense of security that will be the real killer of our environment, worseing climate change and increasing greenhouse gas emission rates.

You may not be so sure, but increasing funding towards organisations such as the Greens, or promoting alternatives to certain wasteful methods have a higher rate of succeeding than solely watching the genetically modified organisms we create do nothing to prevent the wave of the massive destructive changes in our enviroment, our resources becoming scarcer and scarcer. We don't want that to happen, and so we need to act, but intentionally releasing genetically modified organisms will not accomplish that.

We are in a climate crisis, and I am not preaching for us to give up. Standing by and watching the enviromental world be upturned and destroyed by human hands is not what we aim to bring. We do not need biotechnological advancements like genetically modified organisms to combat climate change, when we ourselves can make that change without any changes in our dna. We can and should do this by working together as members of the human society, rather than letting technology do it for us.

Without changing our habits, carbon emissions will never reduce in amounts from being released into the sky, it will only grow and grow as we become lazier and indifferent.
