Organized religions, has historically been use by a small group of people to became richer and more powerfull at cost of their own followers, a very clear example of this is catolisim where a long time ago they decided not to let priest get married this way the could not have legitime kids and the church inherited everything when the died, and then say castity was a requirement god had. As as It could hace some good point of comfortity and safety. The bad outweitghts the good, organized religion Will let the power of changing the rules on hand of few.

I think the most practical thing is that organized religion gives people a ready-made community and support system, which seems like real good in everyday life. I know the other side has serious concerns, but my gut says that structure helps more than it hurts.
