Lebron is by far the greatest of all time, and much better than MJ. Lebron is a better passer, scorer, rebounder, post defender, more efficient with the ball, more athletic, and has a more impressive career to date.

So if “better all time” means winning when it matters most, why are we even having this conversation? MJ went 6 for 6 in the Finals, never needing a Game 7, never losing the final series, and doing it twice as a three-peat. LeBron’s 4 for 10 is impressive longevity, but it’s a participation trophy version of greatness. Peak vs. peak, Jordan was a better scorer, defender, and closer. LeBron has the stats and the résumé, sure—but MJ has the unanswerable claim: he beat everyone and never blinked. That’s the definition of best.

If that is the case, then you would presumably agree to the claim that John Havlichek is the greatest of all time. He had more rebounds and assists than MJ, had more rings than MJ, and was also undefeated he was 8-0 in his finals career. Now obviously I don't think he is better than MJ but I am using this example to show you that your rationale as to why MJ is better is easily flawed due to being able to use that same criteria against MJ. Lebron played with worse talent, against better talent, and had better stats. Lebron may have scored less than MJ at his peak, but he was able to win with no matter who was next to him. His impact can be shown by how good his team was when he left, as his teams have a record below .400 when he does not play, while the bulls were 111-107 in MJs time with Chicago. Likewise, MJ has literally never won a playoff series without Scottie Pippen... he is an egregious 1-9.

Does "more impressive career" mean racking up stats while switching teams whenever the building gets cold? LeBron's a phenomenal all-around player, but "better all time" isn't a skills competition—it’s about dominance. Jordan peaked higher on both ends, and he closed. Six Finals, six rings, zero Game 7s, two three-peats. LeBron’s 4-for-10 is longevity, not supremacy. You can have the better passer and rebounder. I'll take the guy who made losing in the Finals unthinkable. That's the whole sport right there.

So if that is the case... that winning and dominance is what it is all about then you must believe that Bill Russell is the greatest, because with that rationale he is the best with double digit championships and a decade straight of dominance. Lebron has the best playoff run of all time averaging 34.1 points, 9 rebounds, and 9 assists a game. At MJs playoff peak, he had less per game stats in all 3 of those departments, which debunks your claim that at his peak in the most important moment (playoffs) Mj was better, because that is simply untrue as the stats prove. Also, why are you using a team accolade of championships to decide who the best player is? Isnt the best player the person who is the best at the game of basketball. Greatness is measured by legacy and championships, but deciding who the best is should be purley based on stats, competition, and how much they meant to their team.

Here's a real-world test: Karl Malone played 19 seasons, scored more points than Jordan, carried so-called lesser rosters to the Finals, and never had a Scottie Pippen. Nobody sane calls him the GOAT, because greatness isn't about dragging teams to longevity milestones—it's about crushing when it counts. Jordan went 6-for-6 with two three-peats and six Finals MVPs. And spare me the Pippen guilt trip; the Bulls without Jordan were a lottery team. You can keep the gaudy stat lines. I'll take the guy who made losing the final series a career flaw, not a talking point.
