Imagine a star quarterback on a full scholarship, getting tutoring, training tables, and a degree worth six figures. Now picture a walk-on who works two jobs just to afford a bus pass. If we start cutting checks to players, do we pay the quarterback a million and the walk-on nothing? Or everyone a small stipend that ruins the athletic department's budget? The money's not there to do this fairly. Scholarships already compensate athletes handsomely, and the ones chasing NFL money are free to enter the draft after three years. Their payment is education.

even so, taking united states too, the ridiculously low amount of people getting the scholarships dont change

If only a tiny fraction of athletes even get scholarships, then very few college athletes are currently being compensated at all—so the demand for payment isn’t about fairness for the many, it’s about a small group. And the NFL point doesn’t help: football and basketball are the only sports that generate real revenue, so any payment system either pays those players huge sums while everyone else gets nothing, or pays everyone and drains the budgets that fund swimming, track, and the walk-ons who never make a dime. The amateur model keeps those sports alive. Education is the payment, and it’s the only one that works.
