Absolutely that’s like saying people at a large company should be payed less because there’s more of them. If anything it makes it harder for the college athletes to thrive and stand out against their competitors. The only reason national pro leagues pay so much is because of the higher rate of money coming in. College athletes deserve something at least

Why should colleges pay athletes when they already get a free education? I don't know, it just feels like that should be enough, and paying them might make school feel more like a job. Maybe the other side would disagree, but that's my gut feeling.

Well to be a college athlete a certain academic level is required, meaning they are putting in effort on and off their sport. As well it doesn’t make it feel like a job it makes them feel like their efforts and work is being awarded and commended which helps them push on and make the best out of their potential

A surprising thing is that most college sports programs actually lose money, not make it. My opponent makes a fair point about pro leagues, and I admit I am not sure how to argue back. Still, my gut says paying athletes would turn school into a job.

But even if it did turn to a job, is that a bad thing? Aren’t kids doing these sports as something they want to do? And who doesn’t want a job they enjoy? Also if colleges actually lose money, could that be because they don’t pay their students meaning they don’t have enough to compete and push for. Imagine all the new prospects they could get which would bring publicity, and publicity means money
