The other side seems to think making buttons look like physical knobs or leather helps people understand software, but I think that gets it backwards. Flat design just feels cleaner and less distracting to me. Maybe textures help some people, but honestly I am not sure how to argue that further.

I believe skeuomorphism although easier for beginners can require a lot of effort for building and they wont even be used later and can confuse the users and make them uncomfortable because of the size difference later when they use it again on their phones thats statically proven so i think flat designs are better

Does a button really need to look like a physical knob to make sense? My opponent makes a fair point about textures getting confusing when sizes change, and I am not sure how to argue back. I just feel flat design is calmer and more consistent, so that is still my gut.

No now that i think about it skeuomorphism is better because the visual and sensiry experience of touching and interacting with the button makes it less scarier psychologically for the users and once build can be reused again with other users this is especially helpful with the older generation

Think of a train ticket machine with flat labels and clear buttons; it is easy to scan without pretending to be metal. My opponent makes a fair point that textured buttons can feel less scary, and I am not sure how to argue back. I just still feel flat design is calmer.

Skeuomorphism has helped people study features faster snd makes the experience of familiarising more intuitive and interesting
It is scientifically proven to brighten our minds when we are exposed to more colour and activities that require our touch , marketing is basically working that way

The other side gets wrong that colorful textures automatically make software intuitive; to me they mostly add visual noise that distracts from what to tap. My opponent makes a fair point about older users feeling less scared, and I cannot really argue that down. I still just prefer flat design for being calmer.
