The pitch clock keeps the game moving and improves fan engagement. The MLB data already shows shorter games, more action, and better viewership. Baseball needs modernization, and pace-of-play reforms are the least intrusive way to do it.
Baseball’s beauty is its timelessness. Forcing a clock on a sport that was built without one disrupts strategy and tradition. Pitchers who rely on deliberate pacing will be unfairly penalized and potentially risk injury.
Tradition doesn’t matter if the sport loses viewers. Younger fans have options—soccer, basketball, gaming. Baseball must adapt. And no evidence shows higher injury rates because of pitch clocks at any level.
Viewership issues aren’t solved by changing the core of the sport. The real issue is marketing and accessibility. Pitch clocks address the wrong problem. And while injuries aren’t proven, increased tempo can strain younger athletes.
