Over 120,000 songs hit streaming platforms every single day now, and a massive chunk of that flood is AI-generated. That stat alone should make us hit pause. I get the appeal of endless fresh music, but letting unchecked AI content onto Spotify and Apple Music isn't innovation, it's market pollution. Streaming revenue is a fixed pie, and algorithms reward volume. So machines that can crank out an album in ten minutes will inevitably drown out a human artist who spent a year on ten honest songs. There's no peer-reviewed evidence showing this benefits listeners or creators, only data showing a race to the bottom. A human song carries culture, emotion, lived experience. A generated track carries none of that. We shouldn't legitimize it on the same shelves that celebrate actual artistry.
