The other side's sex-selection point is real, and coercion is a genuine harm. But that's an argument for fighting gender inequality and coercion, not for banning abortion. Where abortion is criminalized, sex-selective practices don't vanish; they move underground, often later and less safe, and women die. The WHO data show restricted access drives unsafe abortion. If you actually want to protect girls and women, you need legal, compassionate care plus support, adoption, and policies that value daughters equally. Banning a medical service doesn't fix the prejudice that drives it.
