Picture a smallholder with a bumper maize crop but no road to market, while her neighbors go hungry. That's hunger today: the world already grows enough food for everyone, yet roughly 733 million people faced hunger in 2023, per FAO. My opponent is right that GMOs can raise yields on stressed land. But yield isn't the bottleneck. Poverty, distribution, conflict, and climate shocks are. Selling patented seeds and inputs to poor farmers can deepen debt without fixing access. GMOs are a tool, not the answer.
