Look, I love the movie experience as much as anyone. But let's be real—theaters have been dying for years, and COVID just sped things up. Streaming services are cheaper, more convenient, and honestly, the picture quality at home is incredible now. You can pause for snacks, talk to your friends, and not pay $15 for a soda.
Theaters were already struggling before the pandemic. Blockbusters made all the money while smaller films got squeezed out. And with studios releasing movies straight to streaming, that model is broken. Keeping theaters open just to preserve nostalgia isn't a good reason. We don't mourn video rental stores anymore, and we won't mourn theaters once we adjust.
The real experience people want is watching great stories, not sitting in a dark room with strangers. Home theaters give us that—without the hassle.
