AI agents should be banned outside of quick tech support hotlines as a whole, some positions are just too important to be left in the hands of something that doesn’t have the reasoning of a human.

Look at a small local candidate who uses an AI to send thank-you texts to donors and answer basic questions. That helps them compete with big money. You make a fair point about reasoning, though—I'm not sure where to draw the line, but banning it all feels too heavy-handed.

You don’t need an AI to send a copy and paste thank you email to donors, and as far as the ban might seem harsh, it would be a great step forward to lowering the amount of AI usage in businesses and even possibly open more job opportunities for the already struggling job market.

You make a fair point about jobs and not needing AI for simple emails. But fundraising is more than that, and banning it everywhere feels like we're throwing out the whole toolbox because one tool scares us. I just think that's too blunt.

And someone might say that automation of certain jobs might lift some weight off of humans and let AI do what it was meant to do. However implementing and forcing it in the current stage of development of the AI infrastructure would hurt too many people financially by depriving them of jobs. And maybe the future generation of workers will be better educated on AI and know how to deal manage it, the current workforce especially the one that consists of people born before the 2000’s can’t just rebrand from let’s say, tech support specialists to AI ecosystem managers because they’ve already spent years and probably at least a couple dozens of thousands of dollars on the education and they can’t just rebrand their whole skill set with the snap of a finger because someone decided to replace them with AI assistants or accountants.
