Creationism should be taught alongside evolution as the other side/perspective. Many scientists agree that evolution is not true. that is why it is a theory not a fact. For example astrophysicist Jason Lisle says evidence points away from the big bang and evolution. Creationist scientists are still valid scientists even if you disagree with them. What we see is that there is still debate and both sides make good points. As Jason Lisle pointed out in his book the ultimate proof of creation, both sides look at the same evidence and come to different conclusions. The same evidence can be used to support creationism and evolution. So why should both sides not be taught? The problem would arise if one is looked upon more favorably then the other. I say both should be taught from a neutral perspective. this will give students room to think for themselves and come to their own conclusions based on what they see in the evidence. As currently creationism is treated as purely myth even though there are real arguments for it against evolutionism. By not teaching both sides of the issue we are indoctrinating students to believe by default one side of the issue without giving them the chance to look at both for themselves. This is why both creation and evolution should be taught and both sides arguments should be shown in public schools. Creationism does have a place. and that is the question of the debate today. Why should one perspective be completely blotted out? What reason is there to do that? That is what my opponent will have to answer.
