Look at the University of Connecticut, which cut four sports in 2020 because the athletic budget couldn't carry them. That's the real score. The other side says football and basketball stars generate millions, so they deserve a cut. Fair enough, those sports do bring in money. But that revenue isn't a solo; it's a full orchestra of scholarships, coaches, facilities, conference deals, and fans. Pay the named few, and you silence the nonrevenue sports that depend on that same pot. I'd rather keep the whole band playing than hand the first chair a bigger check and lose the harmony.
