Why pay a monthly cloud bill when your own laptop can run the model? If the little box on your desk handles the job, a lot of us just won't bother with the cloud anymore. I might be missing something, but that feels like bad news for the big providers.
No it does not. Because unlike cloud AI, Local AI does not have internet access. Meaning that the knowledge it contains are more limited and might be obsolete.
For me, the real question is whether people still need cloud once their laptop can do the same job. My opponent made a fair point about no internet, and I am not sure how to argue back. I just feel many will drop subscriptions anyway.
Yes they still need cloud. As like I stated before, cloud allows internet access. So if a user would run into a problem. The AI that can access the internet has more options on providing a solution.
The other side is right that internet access helps with tricky problems, and I cannot really argue that. But for everyday stuff, if the laptop already does the job, why pay cloud? That still feels like a problem for those companies.
