When studios lean so heavily on what's already proven, they're not taking creative risks. They're playing it safe with our own memories.
Nostalgia can be a warm, pleasant thing. But when it becomes the business model, it turns into a crutch. Originality gets pushed aside because it's harder to market. And audiences start expecting the familiar, which makes it even harder for new ideas to break through.
I'm not saying nostalgia has no place in entertainment. But when it dominates the landscape the way it does now, it's clearly being used as a shortcut. And that comes at the expense of genuine innovation.
