Does raw sales volume prove artistic superiority? If so, my opponent wins by default. But that's a chart metric, not a quality metric. FanMail was forward-looking: cyber-futurist production, layered harmonies, and songwriting that treated fans as collaborators, not consumers. Millennium perfected a commercial formula, and that's fair. Yet FanMail took real aesthetic risks, from No Scrubs to Unpretty, and still dominated. When an album shapes a genre's future sound rather than just topping charts, that's the stronger claim.
